What will you do as an OSS Operator?

Reporting to the OSS Supervisor, the OSS Operator is responsible for realigning, cleaning lines for product moves, overseeing plant contractors, make ready for maintenance repairs and moving all portable equipment in the terminal.  Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position.

What do we expect from you as an OSS Operator?

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum of 3 years terminal operations experience

  • Exceptional knowledge in Marine, Land and Field Operations

  • Must have the ability to pre-plan Terminal activities and multitask on a daily basis

  • Good computer skills, including MS Office Suite, various email and internet programs and applications, financial, sales, database, and other programs

  • Excellent English communication skills both oral and written; Spanish language helpful

  • Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements

  • Experience working in a safety critical environment

What does your day look like?

Your core responsibilities are:

  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of SH&E principles and values; champions safety as necessary

  • Communicates with Operations Manager service problems concerning delivery modes

  • Manages internal activities; recommends and implements improvements; plans and schedules miscellaneous terminal activities

  • To ensure they are lines are correctly set up for upcoming moves

  • Reviews the dock schedule daily ensuring make ready is good for the prior ships and barges

  • Reviews the LOPS schedule to ensuring all truck and rail make ready complete prior arrival

  • Coordinates daily with Marine Dispatch and CCRC on inbound and outbound product movements

  • Coordinate with maintenance on planning and day-to-day activities

  • Coordinates daily with Maintenance Planner on make ready for out of service and return to service of equipment within the Terminal

  • Oversees decommissioning and make ready for out of service of shore tanks and pipelines within the Terminal

  • Oversees commissioning and make ready for return to service of shore tanks and pipelines within the Terminal

  • Implements site specific procedures and practice safe work operations

  • Trained to operate the sky track, boom truck, forklift, Vacuum truck, Hydro machine, pedestal crane, man lift, backhoe, and Yard mule

  • Ensures employees have proper equipment; keeps complete inventory and maintenance schedule of all equipment including vehicles, tools, portable radios, and dedicated hoses

  • Maintains operations facilities appearance; performs inspections; reviews and updates standard operating procedures as necessary

  • Enforces plant safety policies; maintains safe work environment; ensures all safety regulations, laws, Company practices, etc. are followed; ensures permit compliance

  • Utilize the available resources effectively to achieve maximum productivity

  • Functions as a First Responder for emergency situations inside and outside of facility

  • Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements

  • Works with the Operations Manager and Shift Superintendents to determine present and future needs for programs, personnel, equipment, and facilities

  • Oversees and manages waste disposal operations as required

  • Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position

Work Environment

This position requires an employee to be exposed to outside elements.  Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months.  There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous.  The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments.  Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location.  When employee is in the office environment, general office noise may be experienced. Louder sounds and vibrations will be experienced when outside.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear.  The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50’ in height.  The employee may be required to enter confined spaces.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Employee may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
