Essential Job Functions

  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of SH&E principles and values; champions safety as necessary

  • Builds reports and generates analysis regarding areas for improvement.

  • Oversees logistics and planning activities for marine and/or land 

  • Communicates with ship and barge agents and owners for scheduling and updates; verifies orders with ships and barges; creates daily vessel reports; forwards reports to customers, shipping and barge agents and Operations Department as appropriate; ensures pre-scheduled vessels are on the plan

  • Creates detailed reports on land activity

  • Investigates, explains and addresses process discrepancies using data derived from various sources

  • Researches demurrage bills and claims for customers

  • Manages damage and claims for third party incidents

  • Analyze data to identify operations performance trends

  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information to show performance, status, problem histories, etc. 

  • Handles non-standard customer questions and complaints; handles day-to-day issues; troubleshoots issues as necessary 

  • Actively assists in Process Improvement project through data mining and analysis

  • Prepares specialty in-depth analysis for specific MOT for Customers as needed

  • Notifies Operations of upcoming activity for preparation purposes

  • Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements

  • Attends daily Operations meeting

  • Assumes delegated responsibilities for the Logistics & Planning Supervisor during his/her absence

  • Performs other duties and manages special projects assigned by Operations Manager and/or Terminal Manager that fall within the generally expected scope of this position

Experience / Requirements

  • Minimum Associated degree or higher education.

  • DOT Certification preferred

  • 2 years' experience in logistics, operations experience and customer service 

  • Customer service focus including the ability to communicate diplomatically; problem solver

  • Knowledge of customer's internal logistics processes; knowledge of customer contracts with Company

  • Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA

  • Ability to multi-task; experience in project management; excellent planning and organization skills

  • Good computer skills, including MS Office Suite, various email and internet programs and applications, financial, sales, and database programs, and other programs
