Position Summary
Support the Americas Division, Operating Companies and Joint Ventures identify and initiate project-based capital investments proposals and manage or participate in new business development projects including greenfield and brownfield developments, mergers and acquisitions in order to support sustainable growth of the company.
Essential Job Functions
Business Strategy and Development
Generates and drives pipeline of project-based growth or improvement opportunities
Identifies, selects and targets strategic new markets, opportunities and customers
Examines market trends and conditions and develops insights and strategies to benefit from changing market or customer conditions
Translates complex findings into actionable recommendations and identification of growth opportunities
Presents viable business cases and investment projects for evaluation by senior management
Ensures all commercial, regulatory and permit risks are mitigated and manages all project phases up to Final Investment Decision
Investment Proposals
Delivers written Investment Proposals for Division Management and Executive Board
Generates and communicates opportunities for growth through investments
Demonstrates the financial viability and incremental value of proposed investment projects
Regularly provides updates on progress of business cases and projects to senior management
Develops the scope, timeline, overall goals for investment projects and verifies to ensure those are adhered to and achieved
Stakeholder Management
Manages, builds and develops senior level relationships with customers, including regional and global Network Accounts
Acts as primary contact between customer and the internal organization
Coordinates cross-functional alignment between the company's commercial, operational, financial, legal and technical departments
Leads or supports commercial contract negotiations with new and existing customers; may serve as principal customer contact
Develops network of industry partners such as engineering firms, railroads, pipeline companies, shipping companies, consultants and contractors to develop specifications in line with customer, operational or market requirements
Develops relationships with relevant government officials and regulators
Ensures all internal approvals are received from senior management through formal project funding requests until Final Investment Decision
Compliance
Abides by all safety, health and environment procedures and practices applicable to location and position
Follows the company's stage-gate Project Management process
Ensures all proposals and final contracts are in compliance with relevant regulations and company standards
Ensures all projects are executed in compliance with relevant internal and external quality and regulatory requirements
Ensures projects are delivered on-time, in-scope and in-budget
Contributes to post-implementation reviews and evaluation phase after project commissioning; identifies and communicates learnings and best-practices
M&A
Identifies potential acquisition or joint venture partners in line with the long-term business strategy
Negotiates and supports drafting of legal documents such NDA's, LOI's, joint-venture agreements
Supports the M&A department in due-diligence processes and in determining the optimum value of acquisitions
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree (technical/engineering or business/economics); MBA a plus
Minimum of 5-7 years commercial and business development experience in the midstream, downstream, petroleum, petrochemical sector or associated industries; petrochemical experience preferred
Experience working with domestic and international counterparties and customers in a business-to-business environment
Extensive and current knowledge of US market and regulatory conditions in the midstream, downstream, petroleum and petrochemical sectors; North and Latin American knowledge and experience a plus.
Thorough understanding of financial concepts, models and investment decision making process
Ability to influence and negotiate; prioritize, meet deadlines; multi task; highly motivated; self starter
