What will you do as a Maintenance Planner?
The Maintenance Planner (Mechanical) will be responsible for planning mechanical corrective and preventive maintenance work orders to ensure efficient and effective execution on fixed and rotating mechanical equipment, which includes pumps, cranes, air compressors, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
The Maintenance Planner will also contribute to effective and efficient execution of work orders through planning and ensuring that conditions are fulfilled for scheduling the work orders for execution.

What do we expect from you as a Maintenance Planner?
Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act
High School diploma
Vocational level preferred
A minimum of 5-10 years maintenance / technical experience at a petroleum, chemical or similar industry plant; terminal experience preferred.
Experienced in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment, such as pumps, cranes, air compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
In depth understanding of terminal equipment including utility systems, tankage, pumps, and docks; (un)loading equipment.
Knowledge on vehicle repair such as trucks, carts and forklifts.
Proven work order planning experience, including job scoping and budgeting
Demonstrated mechanical repair experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering, construction and other technical specs, drawings, schematics, plans, and similar documents.
Computer skills including maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office suite, email and internet programs and applications.

What does your day look like?
Your core responsibilities are:
Planning and Work Order Activities
Responsible for the planning of Work orders, within job safety assessment, permit to work and procurement requirements, in order to ensure that conditions are fulfilled to schedule work orders for execution. Main responsibilities include:
Determining the required activities to execute the work order (determine what activities, sequence, procedures, parts, services, labor, tools and/or material lists are needed and determine feasibility of Work order, whether MOC process needs to be triggered and permit requirements)
Field survey of the work request in order to fully understand problem(s) and implication(s)
Planning activities within the work orders so that the work can be carried out effectively and efficiently. Identify labor requirements, own labor or external services. Prepare scope of work, identify applicable procedures, work instructions, testing requirements and any other specification to ensure completion of the job.
Reviews and analyze bids of multiple suppliers and make recommendations in the vendor selection process
Procures materials, tools or services, if the activity requires it.
Implement the required safety measures in accordance with company guidelines and local regulations to ensure required work permit request information is addressed.
Forecasting maintenance hours and costs to perform work order activities.
Preparation of periodic inspections and preventive maintenance work orders
Assessing results from PM activities, determining whether a work out of inspection is necessary and registering information in the EAM system (Maintenance management system). Ensure support documentation and reports are attached to the PM work order.
Coordinating with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure proper completion of assignments and transfer and release of equipment to the Operations department.
Responsible for gathering and checking the completeness of information including costs generated by the work order. Allocates / register the costs to asset (for services, parts, tools and labor) and if parts from stock were used, updates the inventory.
Redlining any modifications made to “as-built” drawings and providing equipment documentation to the Maintenance Engineer for review and storage.
Other duties as assigned.
Relationship Management
The Maintenance Planner is accountable for:
Consulting with the Maintenance Engineer to provide input for the 5-year maintenance plan.
Consulting with the Maintenance Engineer regarding scope of work in the preventive maintenance schedule in order to establish activities that need to be performed as part of the PM work orders.
Internal contacts for this position include all Maintenance employees, Operations, Customer Service, Procurement, Safety/Health/Environmental and Engineering.
External contacts for this position include all contractors and equipment vendors.

Work Environment
This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employees must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are considered safe under normal conditions with appropriate PPE.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50’ in height. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
