Global Product Director - Plastics Recycling
Join the Global New Energies team and contribute to the strategy of introducing new vital products at Vopak! As Global Product Director, you are responsible for leading, developing, and guiding the growth of the Chemical Recycling of Plastics business in Vopak. The role focuses on developing and deploying the strategy for Chemical Recycling of Plastics within the global Vopak network in close cooperation with the local and regional business development teams. Business development activities vary from translating a view on future technologies and market trends on Chemical Recycling into a strategy and execution plan, identifying energy transition leads and projects to improving/expanding existing terminals, and developing and marketing new business concepts. The Global Product Director reports to the Global Director New Energies based in Rotterdam.
Your three main missions
‘You will accelerate the growth of the Plastics Recycling business across the Vopak Network, building a strategy to transform opportunities into attractive and financeable projects to help us to achieve our “Shaping the Future” ambitions.
‘You will create value for our stakeholders, build new relationships and develop knowledge in a challenging and new market environment with a large number of moving parts and unknowns.
‘You will be the face of the Plastics Recycling pillar within Vopak's New Energies strategy working closely with cross-functional and cross-regional teams around the globe. '
How will you do this?
As Global Product Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy around the solutions in the Chemical Recycling of Plastics. With your genuine interest in the energy transition, knowledge of technical solutions, understanding of market dynamics, and using our competitive advantages, you will create a basis to position Vopak’s services as part of the Plastics Recycling value chain. You will work with the different Vopak locations around the globe and our global accounts and partners to accelerate Vopak’s growth ambitions. You will use your vision, network, insights, knowledge, and skills to develop initiatives and initiate projects that improve our strategic position in new feedstocks. Your job in bullet points
Responsible for the development and execution of the Chemical Recycling of Plastics business strategy and plans as part of our New Energies & Sustainable Feedstocks portfolio.
Identify strategic growth areas and set global short, mid, and long-term development goals.
At an early stage, assess new opportunities identified by the business development teams, providing guidance from a technical, commercial, and strategic alignment perspective.
Discuss and look for solutions to technical challenges found during the development phase with the support of internal or external advisors.
Understand end-market(s) and develop business models, connect with senior-level customers, structure new value chains, and accomplish agreements with partners.
Monitor Plastics Recycling market trends and identify the underlying factors that drive those trends. Identify opportunities for Vopak to achieve its ambitions and develop solutions and approaches to mitigate risks.
Identify, evaluate, and act on new technologies with an impact on a broad supply chain; develop proposals for Vopak Ventures;
Identify, evaluate, and compare business opportunities, partnerships, customers, and preferred locations.
Provide guidance on defining, writing, and evaluating investment proposals developed by business development teams in line with Vopak Project Management standards.
Educate the organization on Chemical Recycling of Plastics.
Who are we looking for?
As the ideal candidate, you have the ability to develop and deploy a business strategy; you have technical experience in Plastics Recycling markets and/or circular economy. You are expected to bring excellent technical and commercial communication skills to interface with various internal and external stakeholders in business and social environments. You have a proven track record in business development and the ability to position Vopak in the energy transition landscape. You are a self-starter and persevering.
You also have:
A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years relevant international work experience in general, technical, business development, and/or technical sales management in relevant industries.
Strong awareness of the Global Plastics Recycling market dynamics and key players, including customers, competitors and other key stakeholders.
Understanding of financial modeling, deal structures, and development of business cases.
Familiarity with the technical aspects and engineering process of large capital projects;
High standards for Health, Safety & Environmental practices.
Knowledge of company offerings, contracts, investment guidelines, services, and company policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
Project and risk management knowledge and skills.
Strong influencing, planning, organizing and analytical skills;
Full professional proficiency in English.
