Global Category Manager
Within Vopak, part of the procurement is centralized - for a number of global equipment and service categories, there is a team of Global Category Managers. In this position, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and realization of the right strategy for selected categories (e.g. pumps, valves, instrumentation, etc). You will lead category teams to create strategies, manage associated tender processes, close, implement and maintain contracts, and execute vendor management.
Next to this, you will contribute to the development of processes, procedures, tools, systems to enable the divisions, projects and the HQ office to do effective category procurement on global categories with a local supplier base (eg. tank inspection, painting, scaffolding etc). You will report to the Global Team Leader Category Management.
Master’s degree in Economics, Industrial Engineering or a similar field;
Ideally 7+ years of experience with tactical/strategic sourcing in a technical environment and thorough experience with category strategies in an international environment;
NEVI 1 and 2 certification is a plus;
Relevant experience in mechanical services, experience in the petrochemical industry is a plus;
Good command of Dutch and English language.
Analytical skills coupled with pragmatism and excellent communication skills

Tasks & Responsibilities
Establishing and maintaining the procurement strategy and planning for selected global purchasing categories, in close collaboration with your immediate colleagues and internal customers;
Continuously seeking to deepen understanding of the supplier market and translate to improvements in the procurement strategy and vendor selection; conducting tenders for investment projects and framework contracts;
Ensuring a careful supplier selection and award process, as well as negotiating and advising the internal customer on supplier selection;
Capturing agreements in contracts and organizing implementation and compliance;
Initiating and managing supplier improvement in the various terminals;
Ensuring (periodic) supplier assessments, addressing suppliers and business agreements made, handling complaints and initiating and directing (supplier) improvement;
Actively contributing to and implementing the division guidelines, processes and procedures.
