The Data & Analytics Office (D&AO) is a newly founded department within GIT where data analytics projects are centrally managed via a standardized approach to ensure optimal execution and scalability of solutions.
Based on existing business strategies and through alignment with terminal, divisional and global stakeholders a project portfolio is established. The D&AO is responsible for the development and maintenance of these projects / solutions.
The data scientist & software engineer is responsible for creating and operationalisation of data science models as part of decision support systems. You are part of the Data Science team, reporting into the Global Analytics Manager, and will be working closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, other Developers and Engineers, and the Global Service Delivery Manager.
The purpose of the job is to design, develop and deploy decision support systems that contribute to Vopak becoming a more data driven company. In addition you will continuously improve the tools, practices and platforms to improve the lead time for delivery and operation of decision support systems.
Requirements
College degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
3y+ experience in Python software development and AI/ML libraries
Experience with AWS, lambda functions, containerization
Experience with CI/CD processes and tooling
Understanding of IT Architecture
Tasks & responsibilities
Problem definition with and at terminals
Specification of data requirements for process measurements and contextual data
Analysis and visualization of time series data
Creating prediction models
Software development and testing
Maintenance, extension and continuous improvement of the prediction models
Localization and implementation of the models on different terminals
Design and develop automated data science pipelines, models and (re-)training of models in close collaboration with data scientists and data engineers in multi-disciplinary agile teams
CI/CD activities
Testing
2nd and 3rd line support of operational models, including monitoring accuracy of the models and initiating adjustment or retraining of models
Development and lifecycle management of tools, best practices and platforms for data science solutions
keeping abreast of new developments within the data science domain and assessing their value for Vopak
