The Vopak Global IT organization delivers IT services for Vopak business units worldwide and the Dutch headquarters. Vopak Global IT consists of four departments: Network Services, Operational Services, Agile Services and Digital Innovation. All these departments drive the innovation and digitization of Vopak and the maintenance of the current IT landscape. This position is within the Operational Services department with the Infrastructure Services team.

• Would you like to ensure all deployments are engineered in an automated, repeatable manner so that other departments like Edge or Data Analytics can request services using standard building blocks?

How will you do this?

An automation engineer has a broad, generalist knowledge of public cloud infrastructure and automation. They’re able to build and automate infrastructure services in teams. They will typically have a specialist area (virtual infrastructure, containers, serverless, etc.) but are able to turn their attention to a research spike and learn something new rapidly. 

Our infrastructure team has an agile way of working. The goal is to deliver global hybrid infrastructure services for a global 24x7 operating company. 

We are looking for

A cloud automation engineer who welcomes the challenge of a complex environment ranging from local to global business projects. You also have:

• Minimum of 3 years working experience in virtual or (hybrid) cloud environments;

• Certification from one or more major cloud providers or willing to obtain one

• Knowledge or experience with frameworks like DevOps, Scrum, Agile.

• Experience with automating infrastructure and operational processes

• Minimum Bsc educational level in Information Technology or similar;

• Experience with new technologies and eager to find new solutions and enhancements;

• Excellent verbal and communicative skills in English;

Preferably experience with

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its native services

• Hybrid cloud platform (Nutanix)

• OS (Linux)

• Source code control (CI/CD)

• Infrastructure as Code

• System configuration management tooling (Ansible)

• Scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash)
